I think it is that heavy. tractor data . com shows weights varying from 3,000-6,000 (going from memory). I don't want it rolling around loose.
I will do the leaf spring bolts and D-rings welded to plates; good idea Donnelly. Thank you all for ideas and your experience. If it was just a cargo trailer, i'd do the etrack, but that tractor is heavy enough to make me sweat- the d-rings bolted around the frame will keep me calm.

Here is a shot on mine, drill and tap. As long as what you are drilling is as thick as the bolt used you will get good holding power, I use 6 independent tie down points for heavy stuff like cars, trucks, tractors... . when hauling stuff w/ suspension I compress it w/ some straps and the rest go to fixed points like axles to keep it from having the small back and forth during stop and go. My 2cents, have had very good luck.

KRStone, you're receiving some very good advice :)

I like the D-ring placement that Wygate shows. Placement is very important with D-rings. My 2003 16' flatbed came with four D-rings nicely welded to the main frame front/back. However, I didn't like their location, as it was hard to triangulate the straps to get any side to side support. So, I welded four more D-rings to the outside rails, rather than use the front/back rails mounted D-rings that it came with.

I have been very happy with this setup for 10+ years now. Sorry, I don't have a photo specifically detailing the D-rings ->

Also, I like the e-tracks in my 2012 18' enclosed trailer. They offer a great deal more options for securing odd cargo than do fixed D-rings. Some of those odd cargo things you can see in this photo ->

My vote is to eventually install both D-rings and e-tracks :)
