All,

I hate to admit to stupidity but in the process of installing a fuel pressure guage, when I was connecting the hose to the Schrader valve at the rear of the fuel filter, I must have overtightened it. When I took it off to reroute, the male needle from the hose appears to have stayed in the valve itself. Now I'm getting a slight leak. When I called Dodge, they do not list the valve as a replacable unit which means they'd replace the entire fuel filter. The parts guy said it is a pretty common valve so I should be able to find it and the mech said it should not be a big deal to replace

Can anybody out there tell me where I could get one? Part number? And has anybody changed one before?

Yes, I feel stupid.

Thanks,

Craig

A/C supply house

I don't know for sure. But I bet they could help. If You know anyone in the A/C bussiness they will probably give you one.

Try P/N 5015712AA BOLT, Banjo at your nearest Mopar parts counter. This number is from the model year 2000 parts catalog. It looks exactly like the banjo (with /Schrader) I removed from my model year 2000 Ram. The Schrader valve is integral with the banjo bolt.

Good luck!

valve follow up

All,

Based on the post by Thomas, I called my parts guy who looked it up and based on what he saw, he thought it was what I was looking for. I think he said it was $23. So I ordered it this morning.

My problem was that I did not want to remove the old until I had a new one to put back in. And it is the larger A/C style.

It is supposed to be in tomorrow so I'll let you all know.

thanks again,

Craig

Any of the five banjo bolts used in your fuel system will work in that (fuel filter/water separator inlet) position, the Schrader valve not being necessary for the operation of the truck. I understand that you wish to have the banjo bolt with integral Schrader valve to provide an attachment for a hose. If you are attaching a grease gun type hose, be aware that there have been some reports on this board that fittings on some of these hoses are not true pipe threads—they lack the taper of pipe threads and have sealing problems.
