OK, been driving the 'lizard now for a week. It's kinda slow to fuel up in normal driving. Once it starts to fuel it does OK (for now ;)) but it kinda lags for a bit. Being new to 12v's, I read up some on it and I gather that the AFC may be cinched too tight. It doesn't smoke easily at all! I'm not really ready to start puttin' money bombs in it just yet-------but the free kind will do very well! :) ) Besides a look at the AFC, can you guys direct me to some other simple stuff that may help for now? I'll probably get the exhaust system, better air filter and gauges pretty soon. Things like cam plates, injectors, and turbo stuff will probably have to wait.

Two simple things,

Move the plate forward a bit, (helps overall fueling), and move the starr wheel to increase pre boost fueling. Both free.

Thanks, I also saw something about the fuel heater screen getting clogged. Guess I could check that too. Just changed the fuel filter. It wasn't too scary lookin'. Did have a little water and what looked like some algae in the very bottom. I think the bottle of Power Service loosened that stuff up.

How far do you want to take your hp with little or no money. i recommend pulling the fuel plate completely out. I also have really loved the turbo changes they are pretty inexpensive for the gain you get.

The other thing is when you are ready to do your intake i recommend just buying a filter, and getting a hold of a piece of 4" exhaust for the intermediate piece, my intake cost me about $95

A BHAF (P/N 42790) from fleetfilter.com should cost about 30 bucks plus shipping. Thats all you need for an intake system. The hose from the turbo will slide right over the air filter neck. You can clamp it down and go.

Adjusted the star wheel... ... ..... much better!! Thanks gents. I'm curious though, doesn't Maine have emissions laws kinda like California? I'm wondering because this truck spent some time up there and it seems that the Star Wheel was pretty tight and the 8mm cap came loose fairly easy. This makes me think that perhaps the AFC was tightened up there to make the smoke nazis happy. I loosened the wheel (toward the motor) 30 clicks. It now has good off idle/low rpm response and smoke is not really noticeable. Also, on the exhaust system, that IS a resonator and NOT a cat just ahead of the muffler right? Motor is a CPL 2175 with 13. 5 degrees timing. Thanks again.

Mines got the ugly bulge in the pipe too, it's a cat :( , keeps the noise down... not for long... .

We Know how to take care of those ;) Also before we start bombing that bad rig, Im gonna have to drive it 'cause I Dont think Ive ever driven a stock 12V. Then you can drive mine  Happy Holidays, I probably wont be seein ya.

Funny, I was thinkin' the same thing (Driving wise)

How much more "pop" did yours have after the 370's??

How do you like your clutch??

Do you have the DSS??

'98 non-California trucks have a cat? I thought I read that this was a resonator on another thread. Whatever, it's comin' off in a bit anyway.
