Hello, its been a while since I've been here. My 99 is slipping badly and when put into reverse it kind of makes a chatter, I gear it is not as noticable. It also has trouble shifting into gears and will not find third. You have to let off the gas for it to shift into second. I know its been acting funny for a while but the other day when it was 95 degrees in stop and go traffic it would not get off the line, it was slipping bad. I have a banks powerpack since 12,000 miles and I have about 60,000. I have 411 gears and 35 inch tall tires.

I need some help troubleshooting the probem. I have never dissasembled a transmission but I have put them in before along with clutches and other general automotive repair. Although I have only done manual and never a automatic with a torque converter, which I figure is eaiser anyway.

Do you think I need a new transmission and torque converter. I would eventially like to put stage three injectors so I want something beefier. I was thinking that if I did the work myself (installing new transmission) that the money I would save in labor would offset having somebody upgrade my own box.

Last time I was using the site alot everbody said DTT was the way to go. Anything else out there, and what kind of cost am I looking at.

I live in Ocean City Maryland and I don't know of any good shops in my area.

I also have a 99 auto and I have been PO'd with the way my truck has been towing for years. I read all these stories about how a after market transmission would be the greatest thing I ever did. Well in May of this year I ordered a full blown one from Mass diesel. I have only used the truck so far to carry my 945 Lance truck camper to Maine and back but so far it is everything that has been written in the past. The truck is now what it should have been when it was born in 1999. Why DC can not make a transmission is beyond me. Scott at Mass Diesel is a nice guy and give him a call. He had a New 2500 in the shop from NJ so I can see where people travel to find a good shop. Good luck and if you need any other info on the above let me know. Rob

Thanks I just talked to Tim Barber in Virginia Beach which is alot closer than Mass. He is a dealer for DTT. I just need to check on my finances.
