I have a 92 Turbodiesel W-250. I just pulled the turbo off to loan to a buddy who has the same type truck. He's been out of work due to illness & is short on cash. At the moment I'm not driving mine

The turbo I had was a Holset H1C (Came stock) I also have a Holset WH1-E that I bought a few years ago at a garage sale. (literally, I bought a local shop that had gone out of business, shop equip. some tools & leftover stock of parts. ) It looks new, or nearly so.

Any of you folks know if this thing might be something I'd want to fit to my truck? It differs in that it has a wastegate, and the exhaust outlet is 4" as opposed to 3" on the stock one. That's not a big issue as I was thinking of upgrading my exhaust system anyhow. My truck also has a Dr. Performance pump & injector upgrade - 208 dyno'd rear wheel horsepower.

Also, out of curiosity, anybody know what this turbo might have been used on. A guy who had worked there said he thought it came off the Boss's "90-sumthun" Dodge.

Thanks, Jack Dancoe

A WH1C was used on some 94 models before they went with the HX35. For no more power than you are making, the 12cm exhaust housing shouldnt be a problem as far as restriction is concerned. If you get much over 230rwhp, you will run into issues with EGT and turbo efficiency maps (over 25-28psi boost) with the H1C or WH1C.

Not to nitpick or start a fight, but I hope you didnt give too much money for the DrP package- 208RWHP is well within the limits of all stock components with just some screw turning and maybe a timing bump.

Daniel, thanks for the info. Yeh, in retrospect, I paid too much for the Dr. P kit. When I had it put on, I was'nt a member of TDR, and there wasn't a lot of info floating around. Even so, I've been real happy with the truck through 260K miles. Now I have an '06 for a daily driver so I can play with the "92. Jack

Join date of 2001; there wasnt near as much then as there is now. Heck, even 4 years ago, 300rwhp was unheard of with a VE. Now you can learn how to tune it yourself and get some REAL power and torque from it. Just be sure to hide receipts from the wife, if applicable ;) :-{}
