my turbo is shot and i decided i would go with twins, i was wondering if anyone had any experience with the bd twins and how they stack up to peirs or something of the sort

Ready to read? Your'e gonna have some fun with the search feature! Type in 'twins' and we will see you back here in a month! :D

Welcome to the TDR!

BD twins suck. I can smoke those things with my HX35 and 100hp bully dog injectors, They are slow at the dragstrip, i have seen it myself, and they suck when they are in front of the sled

... Kinda the idea...

I've read about a few negative experiences with the BD twins myself. But, I've seen the kit and it does look like a nice clean package (for a good price, too). And as far as strip performance, I have a video of AKRam's 12. 9 sec pass with the BD kit saved to my desktop. That doesn't seem to slow to me. I think the BD twins got a bad rep by being the "bolt on and go" hot rodder's twin turbo kit of choice. Ya gotta tune 'em to make 'em work right.

BD makes a very good product if you want to cool 500HP. They spool lightning fast and pull very hard throughout the RPM range. Like all things, they can and have been pushed farther.

The HX35/14- 3B setup and it's bigger brother with the HX40 have been around a long time and it definately works.

It all depends on what you plan on doing with your truck. Towing? racing? All out racing? What HP limit are you setting for yourself, ect.

All twins suck. If inproperly installed and/or tuned.

When done right they are sweetness itself

I'd take a set of BD's twins over my HX 35 anyday

So you can't just put any big slobbery injector in and expect a set of twins to clean it up like a leaf blower on a dry day, you gotta match them well to make them work, right?

I guess the real question would be "what combination of injector and twins would work well for me?" You also need to provide some sort of scenario on how they would be used ie: towing, racing or sled pulling.

I like to read these threads to answer some of my own questions, but we need to be a liitle more specific with our expectations or else the "Twin Gurus" will pass these threads up and not waste time on a reply.

Inquireing minds want to know..... :-laf

I have PDR's Street/Strip twins. From what i can tell one sucks really bad and the other blows, paired together they get the job done. :D

the BD kit is a nice setup for someone looking for good spoolup and or managable towing EGTs. I would call them a towing kit.

If you are looking for more HP but are willing to give up some low end spooling the HX40/b3 combo makes a nice setup and picks up well around 1500rpms but wouldnt be the best choice if you had a real tight (90%<) converter in an auto and expected to tow moderate to heavy with it.

some others have gone to more elaborate means with external wastegates then using non wastegated first stages and dumping the hot gas into the second stage. you can get away with a smaller first stage and yet still dirve the larger second stage this way. Mark Kendrick has pretty much mastered the fast spooling bigger twins. JR Adkins also has some nice combos.

Power By Poole

If you want to experience a spooling set of twins, I've got em. A powerbypoole built set with a Dodgezilla and a B2 with some Mach 6's. These things spool like an HX35 and have made 600rwhp. As far as looks go, I'll let you determine who does better work from the west coast to the east coast. Click on the links below to see what these look like.

What do you want the twins for towint or racing?

almost as important is what vendor are you using / comfortable with... be sure you and that vendor see eye to eye and you have a good relationship with him . . cost is the second issue to me!

I use a PDR 40/3B set and tow with it, right now I have Jammer 5's in ... a bit smokey for towing in the mountains where I tow mostly but I wanted a play set and am trying to bow to all the HP masters [that would be my foot] needs LOL I'm pushing somewhere over 500. . depending on what dyno what day LOL 560 to520
