2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Need wiring HELP on tow mirror mod?????!!!!!

Ok guys, I've jumped into this 2nd gen 3rd gen power tow mirror mod. I've got assembly complete, just having no luck whatsoever in getting the wiring to cooperate. The pass side is basically functioning although instead of a straight up and down motion, I'm getting some diagonal motion too. The drivers side, I can't get any set up where I don't have at least one function up/down or right/left backwards and I've been through every combination of the 3 control wires. Heat wires don't appear to be a problem, that funcion is identified and working even though both wires are not black on my truck.



I guess here is the main couple of questions:

1) How do 3 wires control the function of basically 4 way movement?



2) I'm getting bleed over when testing the joystick control in certain positions but not all of 2 to 3 volts on two wires and getting a full 12 on one. Can anyone explain this?



3) I guess the main thing is if I don't have the passenger side exactly correct with its wiring, will it affect the drivers side? In other words are they part of a circuit between both doors and the switch?... . are they reliant on one another to function properly?



Sorry for the long post, but a buddy of mine nor I can figure it out.

Exact same problem

hey buddy, I have exact;y the same problem. diagonal movement in passenger side and the drivers side functions opposite of the stick. I finally gave up after trying what I thought was every possible wire combination.

Well, I found this thread. I don't know if it'll work for my truck or not-the driver mirror colors are different than my truck. I'll pull the door panels off this weekend again and reconfigure. I'm adding some sound deadening insulation then anyway, so I have another excuse to pull the door panels. Here is the link:

Here's what mine were in case it'll help you. My truck is a 2001.





Mirror to Driver's Door:

Green - Yellow/Red

Blue - Yellow

Gray - Blue/White

Black - Black/Green

Black - Blue/Yellow



Mirror to Passenger Door:

Green - White

Blue - Yellow/Black

Gray - Blue

Black - Black/Green

Black - Blue/Yellow
