CrewCabdiesel, True, I'm dumb for having a truck payment bigger than some people's house payments, and it may be a second generation truck, but I'm partial to all Dodges. I think you'll find a lot of us are... . I guarantee you that Thunder in Muncie is not all about new trucks. Your truck will create quite a lot of attention when you bring it. Dave's Diesel in Muncie, last year's primary event sponsor/host, is fully equipped for first gen parts & service, as Eric just said. You'll enjoy getting aquainted with the mechanics, the pump technician, and the owners. This event is huge, not to be missed, and we're all looking forward to meeting you and seeing your truck ! I can't speak for the vendors, but know now that you've brought up the subject, Eric will address it. It would be good if we had some legitimate "tech-talks" from experienced people like Piers, on the first gen trucks and their engines, not just parts on display.
With the new common-rail fuel injection coming out in 2003, and possibly increasing B. O. M. B. ing costs too much, or making it impossible to B. O. M. B. one, many of us that work on our own trucks will be looking into buying an older Cummins Ram for a second truck, either to pull/race, or use to keep the miles off the new one. Or in my case, get one for my son. So I really, really am interested in first gens, and early second gens. I'm glad you brought out this point. The vendors need to be reminded of the vast market opportunity the older trucks present.
