To add to what I told you, the shooter also killed his wife immediately after shooting the officer. He was arrested on site and has been formally charged with capital murder. A memorial has been set up for his family:

I am sending up my prayers on behalf of the Garza family, and we should also pray for close friends of the family as well as Hector's friends and comrades on the force.

In Oct, 1999 an officer was shot point blank here in Pasco by a punk he'd just pulled over. It really sent shock waves through the community, especially through the police force. This kind of thing is difficult and takes time to get through. Having faith in God helps tremendously. Let's pray Hector Garza will be reunited with his family someday in Heaven.

Brian, as a fellow officer (retired) I have personally known two fellow officers that died in the line of duty at the hands of criminals. It is never easy to accept and often even harder to talk about. Please convey my deepest condolenses to the family on behalf of my family and other officers north of the border. It almost happened last week just north of here when an RCMP officer chased a vehicle into a yard and was shot three times, in the leg, arm and chest. Fortunately he was wearing his vest and is recovering at home. It seems to be all to frequent these past few years.
