I'm looking for the original Factory under bed Tire Carrier for our First Generation trucks. Anyone have a good lead or a spare hanging from the rafters in the garage or under the workbench?

I would like to get the tire "sling" & the threaded bolt... Anyone... . Anyone.

Thanks in advance... Keeno

Tire Carrier

Got one in my shed, it's in very good condition. I only have the front bolt for it, the rear "J" bolt is missing. You can have it, but must arrange for shipping.

I have one complete with the bolts off my '93 that you can have.

I can check with my UPS driver about how to ship it if you want it.

I have one also Keeno

You are welcome to it if you wanna pay shipping from Albuquerque, NM. You don't happen to have an intercooler laying around, do you?

It is a good thing you weren't at my place this morning, I had to put my spare back up under the truck. After fighting with it for a while, if someone would have walked up and asked where they could find one, I would have taken it off and given it to them. Now I am thinking about checking into finding one that has a cable and a winch type setup and getting rid of this one. I had one on a car a few years back and it worked great.

Tire Carrier

Thats why I replaced my original tire carrier with the one that was available from the dealer. First one that I saw was installed on a Dakota, had a hard time finding the part number for the full size truck. I don't know if it is still available or not, most likely it's a similar situation as the factory tach and was only available for a short period.

The only problem with this unit is that it mounts in the same position as a reciever hitch would, although I have managed to overcome this problem with a custom made hitch.

Hope this helps,

Neil:)

I haven't had to change any tires on mine yet (knock on wood) but I am not looking forward to it. Does anyone know of an aftermarket winch-type spare tire carrier?

Thanks Gang for all of the generous offers! :D

I plan to be out West in Jackson, Wy. starting next weekend & then down to Moab for a little "White Rim Trail" First Gen 4X4'ing the week after.

I'll try to contact "WyoJim" first to see if we can arrange a meeting place & parts swap. If we can't make that work I might come knockin' on another door for "the Goods".

Thanks you to all for your help... .

Readin' My Mind KENNO

I've been tryin' to think of a way to mount my spare, when I bought the truck, the previous owner had the spare, but no carrier. When I had my old '88 D100, I can't begin to recall how many junk yards I searched over for one. Finally I did find one, but it went with the truck. I just can't seem to figure out when driving down the road, if you look, why so many people don't have their spare? I hate to drive more than 5 miles without it, and you fellow dually owners know how much room that 600lb, back-breakin', bud wheel takes up in your bed!

Never thought of asking the fellow TDR brothers though!?

Anyway, my plans are to someday swipe a winch-crank-up style carrier off a 2nd gen. That way when I get my nice alunimum flatbed someday, I could use that set up on the flatbed also.

Hey WyoJim! :)

I've been trying to reach you on "The Deal"! Please, let me know if you would still like to let go of "the Goods" or if I have to pester a few other of our TDR First Gen Brothers...

Please contact me... .

Thanks! :D

Keeno,

I left early on July 9th and went to PA. I just got back this evening. Since I had heard nothing from you up until then I told a member in CA he could have it. I didn't want to leave him hanging for a week. Hope you get or got one of the other ones.

No Worries JIM! :)

Keeno is still in need of an OEM tire carrier but I'm leaving tomorrow for a Western trip to Jackson, Wyo. & then down to Moab Utah for a loop around the White Rim Trail in my truck.

Can anyone else help me out w/ a tire carrier? If so, please email me @ keelheadkeeno@hotmail.com and let me know. It might be 2 weeks before I can get back w/ you for the transaction because of my travels.

I would appreciate any offers & will pay for all shipping.

Thanks again to everyone...
