If there is a better than stock tensioner please provide site or phone number. I had to shim mine so it would tilt enough to keep the belt from crawling up the A/C pully. Even after installing the new HD Pully from PS Diesel Products.

I hate giving more of my money to DC . . . unless there not a better product than stock.

Thanks

PS Diesel Products was the 1st place I called this morning. Although they have the pully, which I already installed, they don't have a tensioner.

Thanks

Found it!

Gates # 38116 list $100. 15, my cost $73. 44. Big-A-Auto Parts Wharehouse - instock. Made em lay there hands on it, bag it with my name on it. :)

DC (wouldn't give me the number - butt muncher) list $145. 67, my cost $116. 00. Sc_ _w them!

Just wanted to let you all know for future reference - they're hard to find but, out there.

Wrong Part

Got to the parts house and opened the box. Some rinky dinky thing was inside. The Gates PN 38116 is NFG. Since the Chrysler/Plymouth Parts guy told me he really didn't like to get parts for a Dodge because "they" were not a Dodge dealer:mad: (breaks my heart that they don't want my "Dodge" money). I guess I'll call Cummins and see how many million dollars they want for it.

Is this just my experience finding parts for the CTD because of my location or, does everyone have as much fun as me:confused:

Joe "The Belt - Tensioner" Mc;)

More to come on the endless quest for, correct belt alignment & tension:D

FINALLY!

I hope the madness I've been through with these belt & tensioner issues helps someone at some point in time.

At this point I've replied to my original post 4 times out of the 6 total replies. I find it hard to believe that out of the 139 "viewers" only 3 people replied (one being myself). I guess I'm the only one that ever had this problem? As long as it helps someone.

Anyway, Jetson you're correct Cummins is cheaper than DC, but not by much $105. 76 Vs $116. 00. The best part is they had it in stock and I can install it tonight!

IMHO - DC runs a very high vacuum if you know what I mean (sucks wind). Although I'm sure there's a good parts dept @ a dealer somewhere. Just haven't found one in my neck of the woods yet.
