Here I am

High charging voltage

Which Turbo comes on these 5.9s?

Only thing I know of over there are the grid heater solenoids, but I cant remember how they are wired up and mine was an 04

The. Solenoids attached just below the PS battery are for the grid heaters and like most solenoids are attached to positive voltage.
If there is some sort of solenoid attached to your ground cable it must have been installed aftermarket

It's just below the air intake hose attached to the side of the battery case.

It breaks the ground, and I am having trouble with my grid heater, DTC P2609

This requires some SERIOUS attention in regards to properly diagnosing. If the grid heater bolt on the grid heater is compromised due to some arcing, the engine could ingest that bolt, resulting in some serious internal engine damage.

Well that top picture certainly looks like the grid heater/battery solenoid.
Why it seems to you that is controlling a ground wire instead of positive voltage is a mystery me....someone either messed with it or you need to go look and verify the wire again.

That's because the green wire in the top of the picture goes directly to the negative side of the battery.

Well as far as I know, the SMALLER green wire is used by the ECM to energize the solenoid and is NOT supposed to be connected to the supply voltage. Looks like someone may have hooked it up on your truck all wrong.

Maybe if you have a neighbor or freind with another 3rd gen you can compare the connections. I would take a picture of mine and post it, but am not with my truck right now.

Sorry I cant be of more help.

He is talking of the large green wire on the large contact nut. The small wired go to the ECM to energize the contactor.

Correct... NEITHER the smaller green wire NOR the larger supply voltage wire, no matter the color, should be hooked up to battery negative. Like I said, it sure looks like someone hooked up the grid heater wrong.

Here is a schematic for a 2006 Ram. It is possible there could have been a change for 2007 year model, but probably not.

Mines an 07 5.9 and mine is connected to the positive battery side, have never unhooked it , so I know it's correct, Monte, only thing hooked up to negative cable is another cable going to fender

Looks like someone wanted to disconnect the grid heater and not have loose wires. It’s safe, secure, and not functional with the supply line just moved to the negative post.
