As I await delivery of my '02 QC LWB CTD 2500, I'm looking for some goodies. I'd like to go with nerf bars instead of running boards. But not being the tallest guy in the world, I like the ability to step up on something to grab stuff out of the front of the bed, as is the case with my current 2500 gasser with full-length running boards. At first I thought about full-length nerf bars. However I was wondering if anyone makes them in cab-length with matching short ones for the bed.

To further complicate things, I was thinking I should add a dump kit to this truck after all the times I wished I had one on the current truck. I'm not sure if I could even use the full-length bars if I have a dump kit, because I don't know where they mount in back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I installed the Smittybuilt full length bars on my truck years ago and never regretted it. I really like them as they mount to the truck frame and not the body. I am also short and couldn't come close to reaching into the bed of my 4x4. They also have some cast aluminum, bolt on pads that go where you would step to get to the inside of the bed which I also got. As for the dump bed clearing the steps, you would probably have to find a truck with the dump to measure. The manufacturer would probaly give you measurements. -------Michael

Try the Warn site and check out thier 4X Boards. They bolt to the frame, run wheelwell to wheelwell, and are low enough to step up onto. They are also removable buy pulling 2 pins per side. Has a rubber pad on top surface. Picture will give you an idea of what they look like.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll look into those smittybuilts probably. I wish Northern Tools gave some more info on that dump kit in their online catalog. The loadhog site doesn't provide prices, but one of the magazine reprints they have online mentions its a good product for under $2500! Thats just a bit more than I am willing to spend.
