to you guys with bars what brands are you useing i stopped by my westin dealer this afternoon and he informed me that they were having a problem with the mounting brackets on 03 heavy-duties so being a friend of mine he told me to wait or choose another brand. so my question . . any of you guys having any mounting problems? any of the brackets breaking? and what other brands are you using and happy with thanks in advance

I have Westins. The new bars for 03s just got in. The part number for chrome is 25-2310. Hope this helps.

That's great that Westin finally has them for our trucks. I got the Westins for a 2002 1500 and made them work. I don't suggest this unless your a fairly handy fabricator though (I'm more lucky than good!) :D.

They look good though don't they?

THANKS STEVE FOR THE PART# AND YES THAT HELPS ALOT AND YES PRAIRIE DOG THEY LOOK GREAT THEY WERE MY BAR OF CHOICE AND STILL ARE THANKS TO THE NEW PART #

By the way, I got the Platinum series because of the chrome over stainless. I found the best deal at AZtrucks.com, about $385 delivered to my front door.

Enjoy!

I was thinking of puting the Putco Boss Bars on mine, the only problem is they are about 500 bucks. But they look tough because they are made out of 4" tubing instead of 3" like everyone else uses, and they are stainless, the 4" matches our bigger trucks, I know a guy that has them so I will take a picture and post it later.

Putco wheel-to-wheel SS Boss Bars

Here's my Boss Bars. 4" SS wheel-to-wheel. Pricey but nice. I don't like the plastic cap that covers the rear of the bar. a little cheap looking vs the rest of the bar, IMHO. I don't have a close-up of it, but it's a black cap that slides over the tube. It would look better if it were an insert style.

I just installed the Westin Chrome bars, 25-2310 this past weekend and they installed very easily. They look great, and so far, so good. They use the cab mounting tabs and have support brackets that attach to the backside of the body. No drilling. Took me about 2 hours total time.

I have ICI's on mine. They are sturdy, with a support bracket in the middle. Finish is polished stainless, very nice. Only problem is that the step pad on drivers side is too short, have to step in stainless to exit.

I used MAAP polished stainless steel nerf bars. They mount to the cab and were a snap to install. Another member, PCline, saw a picture of my truck with the MAAP nerf bars and asked:

" Do you mind if I ask what brand of nerf bars you have on your truck? How do you like them? Did they mount to the frame? Did you have to drill any holes? Thanks in advance. "

I responded that I was going to install another pair on a friends truck and offered to send him some pictures.

When PCline received the pictures he responded "Thanks again for the pictures. You should post them with your truck in the "Reader's Rig" section. I'm sure lots of other people would benefit from these pictures. "

So here they are: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/user_gallery/displayalbum.php?&userid=103&albumid=731

Hope this helps someone. ~ Don ~
