Has anyone disabled the neutral safety switch on their 6 spd? If so, how is it done?

there are two wires coming from a little slider-dealy thing that rides on the shaft of the hydrolics (put your handle UNDER your pedal and feel for a rod - the device rides that rod to make sure it moves far enough to "ok" starting. .

Justjump those two wires and it thinks it OK all the time...

but hence the name, you lost the "safety" park

Like Tomeygun stated above just tie the safety switch wires together. I have a toggle switch on the wires for added security,which will only keep an honest person from starting the truck. I had a friend that had stayed in the truck while I ran into an RV store. I got stuck in the store longer and my friend came into the store and told me he reached over to start the truck for AC and nothing happened. I told him you have to push in the clutch for it to start. His reply, Oh me I forgot it was a standard. Without the clutch safety switch I can only imagine we would of been the proud owner of several new wrecked RV's. Just a thought with kids and friends that don't know what the steel rod with a ball with gear numbers wrote on it are for. :)

its funny, I asked the guy that told me about it - WHY?? I mean heck the damage it could cause is alot. .

He said cause when wheeling in the mud and the engine stalls, you can get out with just running the starter to move the truck... Not that I ever want to try it.

Just imagine running out of fuel on a railroad crossing. With the clutch "safety" switch, there is no way to use the starter to get yourself off the tracks. Your whole family could be killed!!!! This is a major safety issue and deserves a recall.

Neutral safety switch for idiots.

I learned to drive on a manual. My dad taught me that before turning on the ignition to have the parking brake set and to put the transmission in neutral. Apparently some people were not fortunate enough to have a knowledgeable dad/instructor to teach them the safe way to start a manual vehicle,hence the evolution of the "safety switch". :{

Kinda like guns. Those who weren't taught how to safely and allowed to handle guns while growing up are the ones who are bound to get into trouble with them.
