Trip to N.E. OR from AZ through UT and ID

goose neck adapter

I took more pictures today.

I also posted on photobucket the video of the fire.

The picture shows two wires from each battery post and the smaller red wire, maybe 8 or 10 gauge has a 30 amp fuse in it. This could be the culprit of the entire deal.

I'm going to spend the day with my son tomorrow to get this laptop loading the pics so I can show them.

Adjuster has said a check is printed for $11,9XX after my $1,000 deductible.

I wish they had used some vaseline. That hurts.

The camper/rv is mine and I will need two attorneys ( two different states) to try to get anything back.

They are refusing, saying the paper work says 'sold as is'.

Nothing in the add stated that and I didn't see it until we were on the road.

Of course, my copy was burnt in the fire.

Sorry for your loss. Did you attempt to purchase the vehicle back from the insurance company ? I have had good luck with that in the past. If you do, please advise, as I would be interested in parts and pieces, such as the rolling frame.

Again, glad you are safe. It is a difficult loss.

Fox, sorry for your loss. I have insured Campers/trailers two different ways with Alstate. On two separate occations I had campers, a Lance Camper, and a Northern Lite Camper, added to the dollar amount of the truck hauling them for full replacement costs. The full coverage on the truck wrapped around the campers. They were covered off the truck while in storage or in use in the bed of the truck for their full replacement cost. I was pretty inexpensive also. The dog camper/trailer I tow/towed for the dogs behind the truck/camper had it's own policy written on it for a dollar amount due to it one of a kind fabrication that was titled/liscenced and dot approved. That also was/is pretty cheap to fully insure. As HBarlow says: "ask for that in writing. "

CRAZY HORSE

Your dog's are good with riding in the trailer mounted camper top? I think mine would cry so loud that the truck radio couldn't cover them up. My labs have to sit one in the front seat passenger side and the other in back seat passenger side windows down of course rain/snow/sun makes no difference to them.

Yea I hear that. My Golden won't even ride in the shell with the pass through window open..... spoiled California pets

Any update on what caused it?

I believe the 2nd gen's are the same as 3rd, in that the alternator hooks directly to the drivers side battery, but the passenger side batter is the monitored one. Usually if the crossover cable is loose or damaged you can get an overcharge condition. On a hot enough day that can mean a boom.

If my trailer swings out while underway and swats an oncoming DuraDud then the DuraDud's damage will be covered by my tow vehicle liability policy.

If my poor trailer gets damaged while swatting the DuraDud then the $107. 00 per year Cougar policy covers the damage to it.

If the Mega Cab is damaged by flying debris from the Disintegrating DuraDud then my trucks collision coverage will pay for those repairs.

If I hit a Furd you guys will all pay me if I take it out, right???Oo.

That makes sense to me now.

Mike.

That is the same way my insurance works thru USAA, thou my TT is a little more than that a year.

No up dates other that they settled with the truck.

The truck has gone to a holding grounds for the insurance company.

Rv dealer-- Terry Frazee Eldridge Iowa won't talk with me (or help as it appears)

Anyone buying from them or any dealer take a qualified inspector with you or you could die trying to enjoy camping.

Make sure you call your insurance agent too BEFORE you travel with one.

Carry extra undies too.

Just a thought here but I believe the insurance company will owe you storage fees. If it had been towed to a lot these would be paid before the truck was ever removed from said "storage". I have purchased a couple vehicles back from my insurance companies but had to wait till they paid all storage fees up till the time of release. They don't want them sitting here long as these fees add up really quick. You might want to check with a few wrecker companies in your area and see what they charge for storage, this might add up to several hundred dollars depending on the length of time since the accident. Also might give you some leverage in other matters with them as you can now place a lein against it for storage and I would immediatly, all it takes is a trip to your county court house and a filing fee. As much as I hate giving them money you might also want to consult with your attorney. This thing looks like it will be real ugly.

BIGNASTY, The pups always ride shot gun in the back of the cab. Buck and Tye were like bondo dogs and would never have gone for riding back there knowing we were up front. Our new pup Daisy is even worse (better). If I'm eating at the dinner table she is laying down by my feet with her head or one of her paws on one of my foot. I take the back seat out completly and put thier dog beds down back there. I thank God for the dogs never ride back there. I watched in the side view mirror one year when that trailer came loose off the truck one time at 55 mph. I watched that trailer cart wheeled for about 100' on all 4 corners before finally coming to rest accross the other side of the road. One of the spindles snapped off flush and the trailer tongue was u-shapped after digging into the ground. Not one scratch was put on the camper part that was bolted down to my ATV trailer. That trailer is up in the woods now in sorage and still has 12 year old dirt from the Grand Canyon in the tube frame rails. The dogs for sure would have been killed if they were riding in thier kennels back there. The kennels actually got ejected (along with everything else) out of the camper as it was flying through the air. Next year Rose is retiring and were are going to hit the road again traveling, and that trailer and dog camper will ride again if we get a cab-over, but we're thinking about a tt this time.
