Fifth Wheel Clearance

trailer parts?

We finally did it!! Yep, we traded in our '97 Hitchhiker II 31RLBG 5th wheel and our '94 Lance 990 for a new 2001 Lance 1140. This will be our 3rd Lance camper. Never have we ever traded for a new RV and get cash back!! #ad

We have been wanting to upgrade our camper and since we haven't used the 5th wheel in nearly a year, we finally got the deal we wanted with our local Lance dealer. We chose the 1140 instead of the 1130, which is what we had been looking at, because of the increased storage space and the unique layout of the kitchen. The slide-outs are nice but we didn't want to give up that extra overhead storage space.

We have decided to limit our RVs to one and since the Lance is so handy to use and we have enjoyed them so much we decided it was the one to have. With the Lance camper on the truck, it's just like a little motorhome without the motorhome expnense and hassle. There are no parking, backing, or manuvering problems with the camper compared to a trailer or a motorhome with a car in tow. I am "Social Security age" and was getting tired of pulling trailers--just "hauling" now instead of "towing".

Unloading our stuff from the camper was pretty easy with its limited storage space, but the 5th wheel was another story. We have had a travel trailer or a 5th wheel since 1970, and with one exception, everytime we traded we got a larger one and just added more stuff. I guess it's time for a big RV storage compartment "stuff" garage sale!!

Congratulations on your new camper. Sounds like you made the right choice. I hear you about getting bigger campers and just keep adding more stuff. I still remember the days when we did not need a 10th of what we take along now and we had more kids at home.
Good luck on your travels,
Ron

What was wrong with the 94 Lance? I have a 95 945 on a 99 3500 and it works great. Will always have a slide-in and maybe will add a 5th when every day is Sunday. Good luck with that Lance.

congratulations Bill! Looks like you will be doing more traveling now.
