New 04 VW TDI

The new TDI litature shows a new Fuel injection system. It is called PUMPE DUSE. The picture shows a unit type pump injector that is cam actuated and electronicly controled. They claim more HP & torgue, better emmisson control, better mileage and quiter operation. This will be available next month on the Bug, Jetta & Golf.

Also learned that the new model VW diesels WILL NOT be sold in the Peoples Republic of CA.

I stand corrected. The "new" 04 TDI is a 1. 9L PD diesel that has been available in Europe for a while. The 2. 0 is a new variant that runs on low sulfur diesel which is bascially unavailable in the US as of right now.



This is the info on the 2. 0L TDI 16 valve that Euro is getting.

CHRIS-----Good photo's. The 4 th photo shows two (2) chrome springs under the cut a way valve cover. They may be the new injectors. Also I was told by a VW dealer in Phoenix today that we would not get anymore TDI diesels in USA until Jan. 04. He said that there is a quota on TDI's to US, and that they reached their quota numbers on 1 OCT. 03, so no more diesels until next year.

The VW Tourag would be pretty neat to have with the TDI V10 if it ever makes it to the US. Imagine bombing that sucker!

The W10 diesel would be great, but the price is 50K.

According to some stuff I saw on Fred's TDI page, the EPA mileage ratings have dropped a few MPG. But I haven't heard what people are actually getting. KL
