Did Ford build the 7. 3L? Navistar built the 6. 0 to the tune of $500M in warranty costs and the 6. 4. If Ford puts a Scorpion in an F-350 it does so remembering the 6. 0 fiasco. My bet is on Ford to have a good product and put Dodge to the test. Cummins will respond.

Navistar International did produce the 7. 3 powerjoke as well as the engine before that, I believe it was a 6. 9, without a turbo. That was a worthless gutless engine.

I don't share your confidence that furd can produce a good diesel engine. If they could, they should have done it years ago.

Chuckle. I also will reserve judgement on Furd's new V8 diesel. I don't wish any major American auto manufacturer problems and loss of sales. I will be pleased if Furd does produce a reliable, durable engine that can compete with our Cummins-powered Rams. Competition improves products. Furd deserves one good engine after a long line of disappointments and huge financial losses.

Wouldn't it be great if Scorpion was all its touted to be? Cummins ( Dodge ) would have to up the ante, as HBARLOW says. Let's imagine the ante is a long bed Mega, a 400 h. p. 800 lb. 6. 7, a Carli suspension for durability and ride quality and an 8 speed transmission ( manual or auto ).

In its day, 1983, it was the cat's pajamas- much better than the 6. 2, and the 5. 9 was just starting production as an industrial engine.

Another reason I was thinking about a new 2010 is that I do not know how to tell how long these 09's have been setting on the lot and do not have all of the latest upgrades and so forth. anybody know if there is a way to tell the build date on thesetrucks.

Thanks Dave :):):)

There is really no flashes for the '09's compared to the 07. 5/08's. . It going to be personal preference if you like the current style or the new 2010 exterior/interior design. Everything else under the hood & drivtrain will be the same w/ 2500/3500.

If you can get a smokin deal and finance rate for a 2009. I would jump all over it. Wait..... I DID!!:D

What exactly is a smokin deal? 4k rebate, 1k if you own a Chrysler product, $500 if you borrow from credit union. I see some ads claiming another 7k off msrp. I want real numbers! What did you pay and for what features?

Guldam

I'd wait for the 10. I was planning on trading my Chevy in this year on a new Chevy, but after seeing the interior of the new Dodge 1500's, I'm gonna hold off until I can compare the new Dodge and Chevy. I drove a new Ford and really liked it, however I'm more than a little nervous about the 6. 4. I can't afford a broken down truck even if they are going to fix it for free.

I don't remember the break down of the rebates when I bought mine, other than I did get a $500 check from Farm Bureau a month after I bought. I ordered my 08 over a year ago, sticker was 48,5 OTD was 35 and change no trade in just a straight up buying a truck type deal. I would expect to get much better than that right now, just find a dealer that's getting shutdown.

I have the 07 6. 7 and the sooting turbo takes some of the fun out of my truck. I asked a dealer if the 2010 has solved this problem and he stated it was solved 2008 but we all know that is bull. I found an explanation on this site of how engineers from Chrysler and Cummins got together and found a solution to the problem but it is complicated and may cause more issues than it solves but that remains to be seen. Here is the site: https://www.turbodieselregister.com...7-HPCR-Engine-Meets-2010-Emissions/Page1.html

We've heard this before....

The Ford Scorpion V8 diesel, with twin turbos, should be available for '10. This Super Duty should have @ 470 h. p. and over 700 lb/ft torque.

Remember how GREAT the 6. 0 was going to be. Ford just bought mine back, that POS wasn't worth a squirt of Urea!

That's why I'm back where I should have been all along... on the TDR going to buy a Cummins!
