New '11 4G, 3500 Dually Mega-Cab

Just took delivery of my 2011 Laramie (loaded) 3500 Mega-Cab Dually from Dave Smith, Idaho. I feel like I jumped from the dinosaur era into the distant future. I traded my venerable 1996 3500 w/130,000 miles, for this time machine. The technology is amazing and daunting. Voice Command training for a truck? A 30 Gig Hard Drive built into the in-dash interactive Media, Nav, and Truck monitoring systems? No joke I am building "pilot" type checklists to keep me functional with all of the technology built into this truck. The Towing Power is off the chart, and the exhaust brake is magnificent. Already pulled a thirty-eight foot 5th wheel (15K lbs) through the mountains in a snowstorm no less. The truck was flawless and the safety features are off the chart. What an amazing machine!

No, mine Doesn't. I am curious about whether we will be able to get the HO "software tweak" at some point. I have seen some other posts where that has been asked. Some others I have read say it's even possible to do the same for some 2010's. Not sure how reliable that information is.

My understanding is they made some modifications to the drivetrain to accomodate the increase in torque. Dont qoute me on that but my dad just ordered one and he was telling me about some of the changes. That being said I do know the engine was not physically changed and the increase was accomplished through ECM programming by Cummins.

I'm always glad to read satisfied owner reports for new Rams like the original poster's.

Steve St. Laurent's excellent report on the big show he attended and the details he obtained from Ram execs regarding the new Ram HO trucks is still available in the website. The links are on the front page.

It is very unlikely that Ram dealers will reflash 350/650 engines to make them HO. From memory, the HO includes an upgraded torque converter, improved transmission cooler, and other parts are included with the HO package.

Yep, they beefed up the pinion support area.
