Joe D's review of the new truck says that the new Cummins 325/600 in the 3500 package witha 6-speed has:

12,000 - GVWR

23,000 - GCWR (only 3000 less than a F550)

16,400 - Max towing

5,020 - Max payload

but the Dodge site has a whole different set of numbers

9,900 - GVWR

19,000 - GCWR

15,750 - Max towing

3,480 - Max payload

And ... the Cummins w/6speed only available for Quad-Cabs in the Laramie short wheel base.

What gives? Why the huge discrepancies? Was Joe reporting "wishful" numbers or actual numbers?

Do any of you have a 3500 Quad cab long wheel base with the Cummins/6speed?

Does anyone have a 3500 with a Bed delete and installed a flat bed instead? Can this even be done?

I would really be disappointed if the 2nd set of figures were for a 3G 3500 dually. My pore ole 2nd gen is:

10,500 GVWR (2WD)

21,500 GCWR (ETH/DEE w/4. 10's)

Forget the "trailer tow rating". If you do the math for the 3G dually, you'll see that they are assuming a loaded truck curb weight of only 6,600 lbs (23,000 lbs GCWR - 16,400 lbs "tow rating"). My truck, with fuel, driver, passengers, options, accessories, etc. hits the road at 7,680 lbs laden curb weight. We're pulling a 13,500 lb 5th wheel that puts us at 10,380 GVW and 21,180 GCW - this against a 16,100 lb "tow rating"!

dont forget in order to get the 23k you will also have to have 4:10 rear gears that is with a 3500 drw long bed 4X2 6speed

rdanley is right: 23,000 is for 4x2 DRW with 4. 10 only. My 3. 73. 4x4 is 13,100 Max trailer rating, 21,000 GCVW.

9900# GVW are 3500 SRW's all DRW are 12,000# GVW (although somewhere I saw a note saying that might increase to 12,500# soon)

The Dodge website is totally messed up with configurations. You can get 3500 SRW LB with 6 speeds. Ask a dealer or Tomeygun. You can also try www.kbb.com, but their website isn't 100% updated yet, either.

Ken, thanks for posting that pdf file. I have been looking for that information. Is it from a web site or did you scan it in? I thouht I once found a site with that info but now cannot find it again:(

Has Dodge taken it down or am I just dreaming??

Thanks,

GEC

I got it from the Dodge website and figured I'd better copy it because thy only post stuff like that for current year production. I don't know if it's still there or not. You can go to the specificaitions section, and get the info, but you have to enter each configuration manually, and it's not organized as well as the pdf file. Don't those people know we crave information?

The 3500 Quad cab short bed is only available as a srw with the cummins so that is what shows up when you look at configurations. The Quad cab long bed starts as a dually with the hemi and you have to configure the CTD and SRW packages into it. You can get a 3500 Long bed SRW CTD/6spd. , I just ordered mine last week.
