Thanks for all you help. I haven't found a truck yet but I did manage to get employee pricing, but looks like that doesn't mater now. Found out that I can't use an XRT or Smarty on the latest trucks or older trucks that have their ECU replaced.



I like the truck but they will be serving ice cold beer in hell before I buy a truck with a DPF that I can't take off.



I have a friend that does R&D for many manufactures and he said the current diesels are crap and I should wait for the new injectors that are supposed to eliminate the dpf's and cats. He could not give me details but he did say they will be injecting more than just diesel forming a catalytic reaction in the cylinder. He thought they would be out in '11 but that was before the credit industry meltdown and bankruptcies.

I thought since there were such great deals I would just buy one and do the dpf delete.

I have wanted a Cummins since '02 when my neighbor used to wake up the whole street at 5am going to work. Now that I can afford it, I'm screwed!!



I just bought a banks kit for my '96 F250 460cid. I'll have to stick with it until the manufactures figure out how to build a clean engine with out a dpf.



I sure hope they figure out the emissions crap. :{:{

You can always buy an older CTD, they are around, just do a car search on any web site that are set up for selling cars and trucks. When you see the cost of the CTD's then you will understand why they are worth the money. That D/A in any used year will be cheaper, but there is a reason for that, or the Ford 6. 0, which you better get the best warranty, you will need it. Have you thought about the C&C, they dont have DPF problems.

Please be careful when buying out of state. There is a law stating you need 7500 miles on the vehicle before bringing it in to California. I bought a used vehicle into California with 1800 miles and it was a 49 state vehicle. After a year of DMV torture,I was forced to surrender the Title and sell . The irony is I sold it with 10,000 miles to another Californian and he had no problems getting a title. Good luck, Dan H
