New 5 Speed Auto for CTD Dodge's

I saw in this month Truck Trend a 5 speed automatic for the new 2003 CTD Dodge's. Look like it got 2 speeds in the overdrive unit section. Look like a nice extra split in the gears and slight taller in OD.



Doe anyone know if this is for the standard or HO engine.

The 5 speed 48RE transmission will not be available until model year 04 from what I hear (actual 2003), from what I hear they will be coupled with HO engines (dont know if you will be able to get one with a standard engine).

You may have misread that Truck Trend article.



The 545RFE 5-speed automatic is for the 5. 7L HEMI V8 only. The 48RE <b>4-speed</B> automatic is for the Cummins and V10.

The 5-45RFE is the same transmission used in my new '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee too.



I wonder how much (if any) beefing up it gets for HEMI duty?
