Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) a/c problem

Just have several miles on my new rebuild...

First reaction is it seems to shift like new stock so that's OK... shifts pretty good, not very notchy or anything just a normal 5600 shift.....

there is one thing of concern. . in 1st gear, the stick wobbles front to rear a little... there is no noise and I don't feel any clicking of gears or anything... it feels like a shaft is out of round... . this only happens in 1st gear... . all other gears are smooth and good... . Since I only use 1st for towing take-off's and manuvering, I am going to see if it causes other problems later on... . have a 6 month warranty so I will see what happens...

I have the fast coolers on and when they did the rebuild, they painted the case so no more rusty 5600! ... .

I also had a bad U-joint on the driveline I didn't know about so they replaced that and greased the other one as well... Wonderfull shop! (six States Dist. here in salt lake)

So the redline MTL with the fast coolers makes like 7 quarts total in it... . that should help it keep cool while towing... had them overfill it 1 quart for the rear bearing problem.

Will be taking a trip to nevada next month, will update on how the trans. works... . I don't have a temp gauge in it at the moment so won't be able to see temp #'s...

So with engine rebuild ans transmission rebuild, I have a new truck for $10,000... . sure beats the new emissions trucks for 50 grand... . will get one eventually but for now, this will last another 10 years. .

Un-BOMBED , and 3-4 times the cost.

I have a lot of money in my truck on suspension, power stuff, new turbo, 5th wheel hitch, diff covers, interior niceties, and stuff like that...

I was just saying that it is pretty neat to get a basically new truck for 10,000 and have that last awahile...

Might have to look into new paint pretty soon...

don't let those eyes roll out of your head! :-laf

Bonham Chrysler and Greenville Chrysler in TX are owned by the same person... Bonham moves more units than any other dealer in TX, and TX is BIG!!!!!!

TXGooseneck on this site got an 04. 5 QC 3500 6sp dually OUT THE DOOR w/ TT&L for under $31k... yes, that was brand new

if you pay $50k for a new CTD, you're a chump... sorry to all you guys trying to sell your 03 w/ 50k miles on it for $28k! :(

and yes, I've considered buying these trucks in TX and selling them elsewhere

Back in '97 I bought my 97 CC 2wd dually @ Henson Motor Company in Madisonville, anyone deal with them lately? Saved $7500 over buying it here.

I'd rather pay the 10k and keep the truck Ive spent all the time and money on finally getting it how I like it. . You guys can spend 35k "all day long". .

All this talk of truck price is moot as I will be keeping the truck awhile. .

I noticed a small oil drip under my truck and was further back than the trans so I looked...

Had a small drip of Transfer-case oil... never had that, Noticed that they had to remove the case to get the trans out so looking at this and that, seeing where it was coming from... . Looking at the plugs, I brushed my fingers by the fill plug... and it moved!! ... Unscrewed it to make sure it was full still... yep..... dang guys filled the case but forgot to tighten down the plug!! Amazing!

Something else I get to check if I ever get to picking the thing up... . thanks for the heads up Eric !
