New 600 shifter rotation

I know this subject has been touched on before but there are so many different answers and I was wondering if anyone had come up with one which actually worked. Now I'm not mechanicaly inclined so I can't go crazy with this or I might need a new truck afterwards. Anyway, I have a new 2500 600 6 speed with about 450 miles on it and the shifter has rotated about 90 degrees. This is NOT a disc moving as the shift pattern is painted on the shifter. So if anyone could give me a working answer on how to fix it, and also how the hell its happening I would appreciate it.
