They build HUNDREDS for every manor of car and truck. I can believe they(K&N)started business in the race arena but have been producing them for general public a long time now. Gotta think if it was as big a problem as suggested thir(K&N)business would not have grown like it has.

While one might think this, think about how long a typical gas motor lasts... cutting a few miles off that expected life doesn't really show itself... take a diesel that pushes A LOT more air and one that someone expects 300k out of... cutting that to 150k hurts...



It is real easy to market a product... even one that is marginally good.



I still think the issue with my K&N was due to the poor seal more than the quality of the filter media.

I just bought one of these the day before this thread started. The picture shows the filter upside-down from how it is installed. The fit in the factory air box was perfect (as near as I could tell).



The seal material is pretty substantial, and the filter comes preoiled from the factory.



I'll have my oil analyzed after the next change and post the results here.
