Hey everyone I'm from over in the first gen forum, but I wanted to post somthing here. I got bored today so I went out and test drove a new truck, 2500 4door 4x4 w/the new 6spd. I dont know if you guys have driven one yet, but what was the purpose of putting reverse all the way over by first gear instead of by 6th? I really dont like it that way. Just my . 02

P. S.

I test drove a new Duramax today w/Allison. Not too bad actually. I dont like the seats and fit and finish of the Chevy, but that transmission isnt bad.

completely different transmission... it's just there on the new one... i suspect it is cheaper for DC to use the in house mercadies g56 trans than to buy one from NV [who owns NV now? is it GM?]

I just thought it was a weird place for it. I've never driven one w/that other 6 speed in it, I just thought it was strange. Awesome overall truck though.

I would actually prefer reverse to be to the left of first gear. It would help on the missed shifts to fifth, and I can't imagine it being an issue getting in the way of first, as I always start off in second gear.

I hit 5th going for reverse more than reverse going for 5th.

I too hit 5th when reaching for R occasionally. To the left of 1st would be better

Yeah, actually the only time i've hit R by mistake was going for seventh! I don't know what I'd do with 4:10's. :D

ditto that. I'd love to have my 4:10's and 7th gear Oo.

Me too, and I suspect that Dodge would do such a thing if the Cummins is to stay in the lineup for any number of years to come.
