The 8HP in the Challenger T/A is sweeeeeeeeet.....love the paddle shifters and the transmission tuning when in Sport Mode. Of course.....having the Active Exhaust opened up in sport mode really allows the melodic 5.7L to sing sweetly.
Midnite really sings if you do a 6th gear on ramp hard charge. All the fuel/ ignition/ cam mapping must be optimized then.

Wayne, I was referring to the second article Ozy linked.

Sounds weird doesn't it?
I'd like to know the lifespan they claim for this transmission - but from what I read, commercial use in up to baby class 8 it must be a tad more then 100'000 Miles.
At least they have an Oil change interval, maybe at 750'000 Miles like the new Paccar transmission in Kenworth Trucks. Sweet.

The allison world transmission we use commonly goes cradle to grave with a fluid change every 3000 hours (department imposed). Trucks get 10-13 very hard, abusive years. Don’t forget, they do a D-N-D cycle in front of almost every house.

What about a filter interval on the Allisons?

I know service intervals have really been stretched out on modern transmissions - with the exception of the Aisin in the Ram - but I'm scratching my head on the lifetime filter bit. It seems really counter Intuitive to a long life. Clutches wear, the material has to go somewhere.

I meant it but neglected to say it. They're (2) hydraulic filter style cartridges that go in from the bottom, doing that effectively dumps the sump when you pop those covers. We use Castrol Tran Synd fluid.
There is a oil life monitor accessible in the keypad but I’ve never seen it give an alert.
