What we really want is a 3. 73:1 ratio!

Don't need a higher one - need one between the 3. 55:1 and 4. 10:1 offered stock.

The gear ratios listed on the Summit site are lower gears, not higher. Lower gears are numerically higher. 4. 10s are lower than 3. 55s.

Me personally, would like a set of 3. 90 gears all around on my Ram. Have a set of 3. 90 in the KW. The 2 Macks we have, one has 4. 17s and the other has 5. 13. The 3. 90s have a little more speed than 4. 10s, and still are a great pulling gear set.

I think, as long as they know the revs per mile, they can adjust it to whatever you need. If they could only go by the gearset, that would seriously limit what they could do in relation to the change of mph vs. tire size.

On my 12v I would like a taller gear than the 3. 55's I currently have. It really seems to like 1700-1800 RPMs cruising down the highway.

Depends on your perspective - I road race and going to a numerically higher gear ratio number means just that - a higher ratio.

I guess if you're a drag racer or rock crawler - your perspective is slightly different.

But - what ever and hope you have a Happy New Year and a safe one too -

12v's don't even have that... they have two settings... for the two factory tire offerings. . the rest has to be done with the speedo gear (and I don't mean your pink stripped ones either)

Has anyone tried 3. 08 or 3. 21 gears in a 98 3500 5spd? I am trying to gear mine for 1700-1800 at 110kph(70mph).

I am also trying to find the calculation for final ratio at a certain road speed and rpm.

Thanks

You can only reflash the 3Gens. The older straight mechanical 12vs have an adjustment knob in the jockey box.

It was suppose to be humor... . rather lame, I must admit. Sorry for the confusion and exposing my general dopiness

4. 10 is a lower gear ratio than 3. 55...

It's not perspective... it's the way it is. :)
