This is a case where its necessary to not only known transmissions, but also the engine. anything made with hands can fail,That"s when you find out how GOOD your installing dealer and manufacturer are,Dukenrock. If internally fail ,it most certainly would have contaminate the rest of the Trans. Things happen and some are negative,Think about it, the owner has enough stress over the situation, why add to it with bashing his purchase. How about starting a NEW tread Like why do TC"s fail. That dealership has to one of the BEST,The dealer could has wash his hands of the matter and left you with the Ball. As soon as the tech remove the dust cover he would have seen it was a upgraded TC. I hope the truck is up and running by the end of today.

I do want to acknowledge that the servicing Dodge dealer has gone above and beyond my expectations of their service. This will go a long way with me. Secondly, ATS stepped up to the plate with the overnight shipping. I haven't heard if the part arrived, but they agreed last night to do it. Hopefully they met the UPS deadline. I started this thread to let everyone know the situation and outcome, as I feel others will someday possibly be in the same position. I believe this to be one of the valuable assets of this Forum. Thanks for moderating the one's that you feel were not appropriate. I will post the final outcome.

If it's not out of line, I'd still like to know which one re works the stock converter, If you have to send me a pm.

Duke,

Sorry to hear about the TC, I hope everything works out. And, I can't believe that the installer, who I know, didn't do a better job in the diagnosis department. Glad to hear that ATS stepped up to the plate. And Your dealer is treating you above and beyond, like your installer should have.

As far as the ATS parts, I have been more then happy with mine. No problems here. But, I know how it feels being down and looking for answers. I'ts happened a couple of times on my truck during the build process, wrong parts, bad parts, etc... In fact, my dealer sent me to Angola where my engine problems were addressed and fixed. My dealer didn't want to touch my truck in this instance. Sounds like we have had opposite expieriences.

Good luck with the truck! Let us all know how it turns out, and runs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I have seen, all three just rework the stock converter. None of them start out with a new, non-Chrysler unit. If you purchase a converter from any of them, they all require you to send your old one back to them to get your core charge back. All three have their own clutch design, their own billet cover, their own stator, and miscellaneous proprietary parts, but the rest of the converter is still the stock front half no matter which you purchase.

Here's the latest update:

ATS called me and verified the TC was shipped and dealership had it. We had a nice discussion about this situation and how this could have been avoided. That's a whole nother Thread!

My Dodge dealer just called me and appologized to me. The pump that needs to be replaced (Which was damaged by the TC) didn't come in today. He'll have it done tomorrow.

Looks like everything's gonna work out OK.

I'll update tomorrow.

I can tell you my next Dodge truck will be purchased from them and they'll get the rest of my service work! Not to mention the future referrals. On a different note, this same dealership wanted to reimburse me for having my carrier bearing bracket spacer installed (By another person other than a Dodge dealership) in an attempt to get rid of my Launch Shutter. I wouldn't let them because they have treated me right in the past.

Put a DTT converter next to a ATS or Suncoast and look at the way they are made. There is a reason 2 of them are not using the stock converter and reworking it. I will leave it at that!

Who cares what it looks like! None of them use any stock componets in them. All that should matter is how well does it work (convertor), and its company reputation!!

Hats off to ATS and Glenbrook Dodge

I just picked up the truck from Dodge. All they charged me was $117. 00! The defective converter was already packaged up to be shipped back to ATS. I want to thank ATS for following through with the overnight replacement converter and for working well with Glenbrook Dodge's Service Department. (John) I also appreciate the follow up you guys had with me. Both ATS and Glenbrook went above and beyond my expectations. I am not upset that I had a failure on a new aftermarket component. That stuff happens. If anyone wants to pm me on what happened at the Shop that initailly installed the ATS converter, I'd be more than happy to share my experience with them. I will let everyone know if I get reimbursed for my $117. 00 from that shop. (They are the reason for me ending up at the dealership) Thanks again ATS and Glenbrook. The truck runs great and teh converter/valve body and Trans Command is a nice compliment with the Banks Kit and Cunmmins!

A happy ending

I'm glad everything worked out!! Doesn't matter who makes what, when you have the support and customer service that you received!!

Final outcome of TC problem and Dave's Diesel

ATS won't return phone calls or emails and has sent two invoices for $1,388. 00 even though they have been sent back their original core.

Dave's Diesel hasn't sent my check back to reimburse me for Dodge repairing the problem.

Read into it as you wish.

KA-booom... . and a KA-baaang!

What a difference a month makes!

Come on ATS... what are you thinking!

You are (were) next on my upgrade list... now must seek an alternative... .

Sorry Duke :(

I have been trying to get the money together for an ATS Stage V and TC upgrade, before I nuke my trans with the Juice.

I talked with a member of another site that had a full ATS Stage V, TC, Billet shafts and Lockup Commander done about 3 or 4 months ago. I ask him about his install because the Diesel Performance shop he had it done at is close to me and I have talked to them briefly about the upgrade.

He said when he had it done he thought if was a good decision. I emailed him today to ask if he was still satisfied with the upgrade and shop that did it. I was more interested in the shop than whether the ATS equipment was doing ok. I have read mainly good things about the ATS transmission equipment. What he told me was that the performance shop did a good job, however he was on his third ATS transmission. First started having shifting problems soon after install, second one was probably damaged in shipment and was installed and had too high internal pressures, third one is okay but skips shifting to second a lot. Was told not enough load on the truck. He still thinks it is a good upgrade, but sounds like he has had a lot of trouble in a short period of time.

I will be talking to a performance shop that specializes on DTT equipment before I make any decisions. I would be very unhappy to spend that kind of money and have those kind of problems.
