New ATS trans problem

Just had new ATS stage 1 with triple loc T/C installed on my 98.5 with 185k mi. After a couple months of light driving, don't tow anymore, I started having problems with initial startup in the mornings only. Engine starts up just fine but as soon as I put it in gear it wants to take off like it's under a load and blows a lot of black smoke and I have to restrain it with the brake petal even though the emergency brake is still on. After I go down the road for less than a mile I can shut it off, restart it and it runs fine the rest of the day with multiple stops and restarts. I've taken back to the local shop, authorized dealer, that installed and they have yet to figure it out and it is not setting any codes.

You paid around $4500!!!! You shouldn't be having these problems. That said, it could be not related to the trans, but sounds like it is, I'd reach out to ATS for Tech assist and see what they come up with. Per their site = "All ATS transmission packages come backed with a 5 year / 500,000 mile warranty."

They're giving me a complete new transmission. They couldn't figure out what was causing the cold start surging problem.
