Adjusting the temperature on the oven

My new mirrors came and and I thought I would give a first impression. I got the Bestop heated/ electric for my 99. The box these things came in was HUGE and they were well packaged. Install was easy and very straight forward. 1 screw and 3 nuts each side. Wiring was all plug and play. They look identical to the CIPA mirrors some places are selling.

I put pics in my readers rides page under Vic's 99.

They are easily double the mirror surface of the original mirrors. Much bigger then the Powervisions I have on my 97 too.

Am heading out tomorrow on a little 750 mile trip, so next week I'll let you know how they did on the highway. Even without extending them they seem plenty wide enough for my slide-in. AT first I thought they were going to look goofy on the truck because they were so big, but now that I look at them, I think the original mirrors were a little out of proportion being so small.

I have to say I am very happy with this addition to the truck. Much nicer driving with the camper on. Only a very slight vibration on the passenger side mirror, but only noticable because I am picky. I am going to retorque them tomorrow. They make lane changes a lot easier - no such thing as a blind spot now.

My only complaint is that the passenger side mirror seems a little low. I don't use the bottom inch of the glass because its below the window. Not a big deal though. That and I'm not crazy about the fact that the mirrors fold forward instead of back. I usually fold the mirrors in when I park it on campus and that will take some getting used to.

I got these at Summit Racing. Just over 3 bills (and I had a 10% off coupon!). I highly recommend Summit. They were not on the online catalog yet, and the Summit part number isBST-73622-01. I think Summit has free shipping too, but I live down the street so I just picked them up at the store.

My CIPA mirrors were still on back order so I ordered mine from WindRock today. Just over $300 including shipping. I saved about $40.

Bestop Mirrors

Hey Vic;

Read your post and ordered a set the same night. Got them in yesterday and installed them this AM. Everyting you said about them is right on. The most difficult part is where to locate the fish eyes that came with them. Thanks, jbrowne

fisheyes

Yeah, I haven't figured out where I'm going to put the fisheyes either. I haven't really found a blind spot with them, so I'll probably hold off for a while.

Now that the mirrors are on the truck, I can't figure out how I lived for 3 years with smaller mirrors!

I got mine and installed them, only to find out the right side was defective it wouldn't detent in the correct location. I called the Windrock up and a new one is on its way. Other than than that I am very happy with them. I too don't think I need the spot mirrors.
