I don't think spraying outside the bowl is as big an issue as getting too much fuel at the outer edges of the bowl. In a constant scenario that would be more damaging than anything due to the structure of the piston. High engine load and high rpm kicks the timing up to the point where there is potentially a lot of heat directly over an area that is not intended to handle it.

Pretty sure once any significant part of the event goes outside the bowl you are going to see a lot of smoke, power loss, and probably some rather loud noises,

It's all a guessing game. The 04. 5-07 is already the easiest piston to melt in ISB history.

brain,I have a 03 and currently have a lot of injector knock. I have 330,000 on truck and currently running Industrial 2 60 hp sticks with about 50-60k them. I was considering the BBI injectors but the 1300. 00 cost diff. is in play here. I think I hurt my injectors with the smarty,not sure?Can you explain how and why they would be so much better?

BBi injectors are built by hand, by a professional assembler. This is a guy who builds/assembles injectors for a living. He has a decade of experience in these regards.

BBi refuses to make any alterations to the injector or any of the components, that are in ANY way detrimental to the life of the injector. The standard balance rates are guaranteed a maximum of 2% & often times come in tighter than that. Superior nozzle hole quality and exact hole sizing from hole to hole, and nozzle to nozzle.

The injector nozzles are modified in the same manner as oem. Edm'ed, then micro polished with a hydroerosive process. This technique nets near perfect results, unlike anything else in the aftermarket. What does this mean to you ? An engine that runs smoother than you've ever experienced. Less smoke & less heat than a similarly sized injector, manufactured employing any other technique. An improved combustion event, with an increase in MPG's when driven similarly. An injector capable of a wide range of power output, From 300 to 800 RWHP+ on 03/04 Stage 1 injectors specifically. An injector with it's 30% flow over stock, will make the same or more power than another injector that is rated to flow 100% over stock. Designed to last as long as, or longer than an oem, assembly line, robotically produced injector.
