I've owned several Dodge/Cummins truck. Every 4wd 2500 I've had pulls to the left and/or right when braking. I've replaced hubs, brake calipers, pads, rotors, steering stabilizer, ball joints, shocks, pitman arm and about everything else you can replace thar could have anything to do with the front end and still these trucks always pull. Has anyone found one certain problem that causes this? Thanks for your help

I installed the complete EGR front brake system and I no longer have any pulling. Parts cost almost $900 but I had to replace rotors and calipers anyway so spent the money. You might try EGR's Kevlar pads and stainless steel lines and see what happens.

The Kevlar pads seem to not grab right away but increase braking as the pads are warmed up. It's hard to explain. Mine would pull right when I applied the brakes and stop pulling as more force was applied. I am going to do their rear disc conversion this spring.

i to have the EGR brakes, they are nice but you should still be able to get the truck to stop pulling with out them. You mentioned you changed rotor, calipers, ect. Did you do all this at one time? Also, I think you might want to try replacing he brake lines, they breakdown over time, and you could have one the reacts differently to brake pressure then the other. Good luck.

Brakes Pulling

Went round and round with my 94, and the dealer, then took the front calipers off and filed the big flats on each end of the caliper, and the plate they sit on. The problem is, the calipers need to float in and out to match the rotors. The calipers are too rough from the factory, and will not float very well. After smoothing, I used a bit of synthetic grease, made sure the pins are clean and greased a bit, and --- NO MORE PULL. Threw away the $100 spacer the dealer installed to "correct" pull. Nothing like good engineering. Oo.

A few weeks ago my truck started pulling left during braking. The truck already pulled right at times. PITA to drive this way. Since both rear hub seals were leaking I thought it might be the rear brakes. I replaced the rear hub seals, changed the wheel cylinders to 1 1/8" where the originals were 1 1/16", turned the drums and "arc" ground the rear brake shoes to match the drum diameter. The truck stopped alot better but still pulled left during braking.

So, I worked on the front brakes. Replaced pads and caliper bushings/bolts. Put grease on the bushings. Still pulled.

Finally I replaced the calipers, filed and sanded the slide surfaces smooth on the new calipers and spindle. Put some gray anti-seize permatex on the slides and bushings. Stops straight and quick now. Looking back I think either the caliper slides, bushings or piston was sticking. Now I'm looking into what causes it to pull right sometimes. ( maybe trac bar?)

I have to second the vote for adjusting the rear brakes. I can make my truck pull right, pull left, or track dead straight with the rear wheel adjustment and the mood I'm in that week. :D

It's amazing how much the rears effect these trucks and it is such a simple fix, no parts needed. I've had good success with the truck on the ground method of adjustment. I just turn the starwheel to expand the shoes until it stops, take a second screwdriver to release the locking arm and thread the wheel back in 8-10 clicks. If one side is too tight, that is the side that it will pull to. Loosen it a couple more clicks and you are good to go. I also compare the heat between the two after a drive just to compare.

Mine pulled. Took it apart cleaned the rust and such of the pins and greased them up and no more pull. The funny thing was the bakes had been done by the dealer just before I bought the truck and they charged the old owner big $$$. Not many miles into me owning it started pulling and a couple days later a heard the wear indicators and pulled it apart. The one pad was like new the other gone. I guess no one ever told the ******* mech about greasing the pins.
