My left brake light has been out for a short while. I installed new bulbs and it still doesn't work. All lights work... running, directionals, right brake light... but no left brake. I was driving behind a 3rd gen truck last night and he had the exact problem I have. Is this a common problem? How do I fix it? Thanks Clay

There was a problem with the plastic bulb ends melting or getting dissfigured causing this problem. If a new light didnt fix it I would look at the light bar/recepticle itself. Maybe others know of something else?

Mine has been out for months. I tried to replace the bulb also, but it didn't make a difference. As stated in the previos post, I think you have to replace the plastic piece that the bulbs mount to.

My dad had to replace the whole piece in his 03'

I had the same problem and went to the Dealer and bought new light rails. Like $25 each and the problem went away. I got tired of the lamp out chime every time I hit a bump in the road.

How did you make out, I just replaced bulbs, fuse and both light rails. Still no brake lights. I never had a chime or light out indicator. Not shure what to do.

Look on the drivers side frame rail and follow the wire loom down the frame. There is a spot that on some the wires get pinched along the frame. My boss had this happen. I think it was right around the area of the drivers door. The wires were severed in half and he didn't have any brake lights. It has been so long now I can't remember exactly where they were pinched, but it was under the cab area. Don't know if this is it, but worth a shot. I think it may have been around one of the cab mounting blocks. Hope this helps.
