Well it finally happened to my 2014. The check engine light appeared for the second time indicating the scr was belching and pootin. Took it in to the dealer and left it overnight. I asked them to do the tsb to fix the fuel filter msg center fix, but they blew me off saying it was probable the quality of fuel I was using. I have to reset it a 9k miles
and remember to change the fuel filters at another 6. They did replace the cat under warranty, which is 8 years 80k miles for federal emissions. I now have a ticking sound at
my cat that was not there with the old one. Any ideas on that? Is it a normal tick? Almost sounds like a spark arc. My advise to the 2013-15 owners is to get it done before
you get 80k miles or at least have an extended warranty to 100k. No telling how long FCA and Cummins are going to argue over who pays. FYI, it costs over 2200 dollars
to have it done out of warranty

The fuel filter change is figured by the computer......it doesn't monitor quality of fuel. Your dealer is blowing smoke.

Im seeing way too many people having tailpipe dtc's, even on the newer trucks. I wonder if they'll ever have these things sorted out. I'd still rather have my Cummins than anything else.

I am told there is a conductivity/resistance sensor in each fuel filter. Not sure if those readings are included in filter life calcs. But it can alert you to water in fuel

I know, it would have been handy if I would have written down the tsb for reference on the fuel filter change out. They also stated in my paperwork that there was no evidence that the
fuel filters had been changed so the took a sample, which turned out good. I change my filters out myself as I let the dealer do the first change and went into shock at the price of 265 dollars.
Yes I do love my Cummins engine. My son borrowed it to move from Houston to Fort Worth as he just graduated from Chiropractic college and he wants my truck....again:)

Mine went the full 15K for fuel and oil change.

It has been reported on this forum that 2013's have a programming error that makes the fuel filter minder expire faster than the oil change minder. I find this to be true with my truck. Although I've always changed mine before the minder expires (I drive less than 10,000 per year and they should be changed annually even if you haven't hit 15,000 miles), linear extrapolation shows that mine would likely expire at 11,500-12,000 miles. I wasn't aware of a TSB for this.

The tsb is 18-002-14. One of the enhancements is fuel filter minder calibration changes. They did not listen when I told them there was a tsb for it.

My dealer did not believe me when i told them there was a TSB for the fuel filter heater. I had to go home and print it out and come back to show them the hard copy. It required an extra trip to the dealer.

When they do a reflash your filter minders will get screwed / re set to zero. The clicking sound you hear is the DEF pump and injector cycling. There have been roughly 6 TSB re flashes for the 2013 trucks best thing is to stop in and see the dealer and have them tie your truck into Chrysler and see if your truck has the most up to date fash.

Thanks for the response on the ticking sound. It was not apparent on the old cat, or maybe I never went on that side of the truck and listened. As long as my truck is fixed, I don't mind

TCronish,I concur with Ed,pg 277 RAM 2500/3500/4500/550 Diesel owners supplemental owners "The DEF pump will run run for a period of time after engine shutdown to purge the DEF system. This is normal"....

Some of the reflashes were RTF's. (Required Flashes). Many of the TSB's are only performed at customer request (not required). I don't know if all 6 were done on mine because when I brought mine in fof the first oil chsnge, they said the selling dealer didn't do the teflsdhes that should hsve been done. I think one of the reflashes was to allow more NOx without triggering a CEL/DTC. This was before they discovered the CAT problem.
