Well, I got my $35 bucks worth out of this place again, and for once the search feature actually worked!

So I replaced the cylinder, It took about an hour 10, and 30 min of that was getting the clip off the pedal and the electrical connector I couldn't see.

Wound up breaking the clip. 3 bucks.

However, the 'ol girl takes about half the effort to push in the pedal, and the problem I had with it not going into gear at a dead stop when hot is gone.

So those of you with these symptoms, take notice. These seem to be early signs of failure.

I changed the transmission fluid to no avail, thought it was a transmission problem.

Wrong.

And when this sucker fails when you are feathering the clutch in reverse into the driveway, boy is it fun!!! Ran into the fence, bent it, stopped and dug a hole till I killed it with the key. :-laf

Thanks again TDR!

Mine decided to fail in the McDonald's drive through. THAT was an exciting time! :-laf

Did you get the SBC master/slave setup?

I went factory, no time to wait on shipping. I dont know if the SBC unit needed to be bled, which a pal told me is kind of a pain, so I went stock. It was prefilled, prebled. Quick disconnect at the slave.

Peter at SBC sells an entire 2-piece unit that has a heavier-duty slave cylinder. It is already bled.

I have replaced this unit many times (lots of stop and go with a SBC 3850-12CB).
When it starts to fail, you will notice it becomes more difficult to get into gear from a start, and possibly reverse begins to be very difficult to get in. You might notice the need to put the transmission in 5/6 first to stop the gears from spinning to get it into 1/2 from a stop.

You might even notice a squeak from the pedal. This could be from brake fluid leaking out of the master cylinder.

There are many different ways for this device to fail.
