Installed an Edge Comp on an '02 Auto yesterday. Very dissapointed. I have one also on my 99 auto. My 99 auto on level one will about beat this '02 on 5x5!

Very smokey even on 1x1. K&N in the stock box, Banks High Ram Intake, Banks Big Head Wastegate(Which I am really questioning), and straight piped exhaust. We first suspected wastegate(which was put on by somebody else) was set incorrectly. We clamped off the hose to it, which should elimate it right?. Still smokey and sluggish on 1x1. 5x5 forget it. Mosquito killer with not much more response.

We then suspect Air Cleaner. We even tried a short run with no filter. Just straight turbo with hose and the wastegate still disabled. It was alittle better. But basically still just smokey and slow. Feels like it is only running about 50% what it should with the box.

He has gauges ordered which aren't in yet (back ordered) so we do not know his boost level. This truck just seemed slow to me from the start, even before the box.

This thing just feels like it is starving for air. It reminds me of a push mower going through a foot tall grass! Just really feels like it is gasping for air. The fuel flow is obvious but I can't for the life of me figure out the air trouble without the gauges on. Any help??

Is it just the little HY35? I was really dissapointed. Something is wrong... . :{

As always, Muchas Gracias!

Check all the clamps on the intake system + check the gaskets on the intake horn..... As long as the turbo is good this sounds like a major boost leak to me.

I have an idea already where I think my leak is so I am just doing the backyard method of "looks like it might be leaking, reseal it". My suspect is the High Ram intake. The bolt holes that hold it down are open to the inside of the Intake Horn, meaning they are not solid/sealed from the air flow. The system uses studs with nuts to hold it on and there is a definite chances for leaks at this location as the studs are loose in the holes. The nuts don't cover the hole very well(I don't think). We are going to put the stock air horn back on. As mentioned on here before, some have dyno'd less horsepower (10-15hp) with the High Ram vs. the stock air horn. We'll see.

I'll let ya'll know what we find.

What?

How would pressurizing the CrankCase show a Boost Leak?

To Check for boost leaks, you need remove the Intercooler hose/boot that connects on to the turbo, then pressure it to 10-15PSI. There will be some leakage past the valves, but you should be able to check for a boost leak before all the pressure goes through the engine.

To heck with looking for the leak..... I say just put a good set of twins on there to make up for any leaking air :D

Banks High Ram

Th e Banks High Ram comes with "special" washers that are sealed on one side with a ribber gasket. I have one on my 02.

If those washers were put in wrong or are missing.

That is where your leak is.

Found our leak... don't know if it fixed our problems yet. We mixed up some soap water and sprayed it on the High Ram Intake studs. We then braked torque to build some boost. Bubbles, we have bubbles! Of course the guy who put it on didn't put the washers on and we knew nothing of it. We put some good ol RTV on it and letting it set for a bit. Wasn't spewing bubbles bad, but it was leaking. I hope this fixes it... I'll let ya know.

Thanks, Monk!

We are trying to get ahold of the guy who installed this High Ram to see if he still has the stock Air Horn. We are putting it back. Enough with this High Ram... ... ... ... .....
