Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) NEW crysler fuel pump conversion?????

Just talked with the parts guy at the local dealer. He said he saw a new thing in the parts data base for 98 to 02 trucks. He said its listed as a FUEL PUMP TRANSFER CONVERSION then within the description he said it says MODULE PACK, FUEL PUMP/LEVEL KIT. He said this leaves him to believe its for in the tank. He said its about $250. 00. He also said that there is no additional info listed... Ill stick with my Fuel Preporator but who knows maybe better than the POS carter thing.

Chrysler currently calls the parts in the tank... "module". So from the sound of it, and the mention of level kit, I'd say it would be in-tank. Which is evident from the other thread also.



Might be good. Hope it is. Cause if the failure rate is anything close to the Carters... you won't be replacing it in 30 minutes anymore.



I find it amazing that most dealer service centers would give you a crosseyed look if you mentioned the Carter fuel pumps were known "bad deals" and frequently quit working. They knew nothing about such a thing and neither did 5-Star folks. Yet amazingly here is a revised fuel pump setup that appears a very serious attempt to solve an existing problem... that previously "rarely if ever" happened.
