The ETH/DEE combo will not be available in California next year. I've heard there are a few other states where it won't be available. That was one of the main reasons for buying the truck when I did. My timing was pretty good. I managed to find one truck in California equipped the way I wanted it and bought it well below invoice.

Is the ETH motor actually louder than the other motors? When test driving these trucks it was always an ETH motor so I don't have anything to compare it to.

What's Rotella, some kind of oil?

:D As long as the women in my life understand me everything is okay.

Rotella T is a engine oil used by a lot of TDR members. Its cheaper than some others out there, but it is still a good oil. I use it because I can get it with my employee discount for like $6. 20 a gallon.

I think the women comment was more directed towards women understanding you when you start hanging out on TDR very often, and start working on your truck even more often!

I'm only 19 and get the constant nagging of "your always on TDR" whenever I'm on the computer and the "your never satisfied with your trucks" from my girlfriend when I haven't touched my Dodge of my 79 Chevy (off-road truck) in days!(mechanically) :-{}

The Costco in town sells Delo 400 for $5. 70 a gallon. I've heard it's one of the best dino oils around. I'm going to use it until something better comes along.

You can't go wrong with either Rotella 15w40 or Delo 400, if you change it based on your type of usage and the owners manual recommendation the CTD will last longer than you want to drive it.

Congrats, you'll love that truck. After joining TDR and about 2 days of reading, I can garuantee you'll be huntin for upgrades to bomb the CTD.

Have fun. :D

slo-ryde – you have to whisper when you talk about oil here. We are very passionate about our oil (or synthetics). Mess with our lady friends ok, our oil no. Not trying to start a fuss, just poking fun. Our oil passion is too serious to take serious.

You have a what kind of automatic transmission? We like to argue and get our post pulled for that subject too.

I don’t understand the fuss, if we were tightly wrapped, we would not be so involved with our trucks. I argue a lot with my wife, but seldom with my Red Wagon.

Welcome!

Welcome, the TDR can save you a lot of money by giving you the info you need to make informed decisions, and then you get to spend it all and then some when you find out about all the cool things you do.

I know I am money ahead due to learning about cheap fixes when I might have spent a lot and not needed to. The TDR members are a generous bunch of folks and have given me several things for my truck and saved money there also.

Same here,, even the 19 yrs old part.

Have fun,, You'll learn alot,, you know you've got the bug bad when you start thinking of Hybrid turbo's, Twin Turbos, Dual Fuel Pumps, 13" Clutches, GAUGES GAUGES GAUGES, "Boxes", and many other things,,, and for me,, that's even before Breakfast!! LOL

When the Bombing bug bites,, it don't let go. Good thing my girl understands that a stock truck isn't even worth driving.

I pointed to another 3500 2wd truck the other day, and she said,, Why would you want to drive that? It looks completly Stock! What fun would that be? She's a keeper.

Sorry RedDog1, I'm not getting the question. I have the 6 speed manual, not an automatic.

I've heard a lot of good stuff about the Delo 400 oil and it's available at Costco in 6 gallon cases for less than $34! It's even highly recommended by my local dealership, if that means anything. ;)

Just to let you know, once you start going through this site, you'll have trouble stopping. In 2 days I spent a total of 6 hours just on this site, searching post and whatnot for upgrades and the likes.

So I adopted the same idea the Allies did during WWII, saturated Bombing... Man this is fun. :-laf

slo-ryde - I was poking fun at us. As a group, we are very passionate not only about our trucks, but also about how we service and/or repair them.

In our posting, we get so excited, we forget to be politically correct. This is especially true when we discuss oils or imitation oil (politically correct?), or what automatic transmission vender we prefer (especially the Mutt pack or the Barney boys). If I were to state who rebuilt my auto transmission, and why I choose them, I bet that the thread would be pulled before it ran itself out.

My post is not intended to flame or insult anyone. You and I are involved in TDR because of our interest. There are those who are interested for monetary gains. You and I can afford not to take ourselves seriously, the monetary folks do not have that luxury.

I hope you enjoy this web site as much as I have for the past year. I also hope you do not become as disappointed as I have with the commercial aspects.

Watch what happens if people get into commenting on your Delo 400 comment.
