That statement I made earlier was in reference to info given to me by the service advisor. Maybe mistyped/misread. I have yet to find this info my manual and I have been reading it everynight. No such luck.

Hope this helps,

Brooks

Picked up the DRW this afternoon from 2nd opinion diesel shop. The belt was worn smooth and one of the pulleys was smooth. So the tech roughed all of them up and replaced the belt. So, $600 at the stealership for a diesel clean out and $200 at the second opinion place. On the way home, put the exhaust brake on and all of a sudden I have the noise again on decel. Yes, it's back. How long do I let this go on? Almost $1K into this. Truck is paid for 59K miles on it 2007. 5 DRW 4x4. . Would you guys keep it and live with "high pitched squeal", or sell it and have a payment?

In the paper owner's manual, EGR service is not specified at 67,500 miles. However, in the Owners DVD (Diesel Supplement section), it is:

108000 Km
67500 Miles
54 Months
When prompted by the Engine Oil Indicator System, the engine oil and filter must be changed. If not prompted by the Engine Oil Indicator System within 7,500 miles (12 000 km) or six months since the last oil and filter change, change the engine oil and engine oil filter. Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 7,500 miles (12 000 km) or six months, whichever comes first.
Rotate tires.
Lubricate front drive shaft fitting (4x4).
Lubricate outer tie rod ends.
Inspect brake linings.
Inspect and adjust parking brake if necessary.
Replace Crankcase Ventilation Filter (CCV).
Clean EGR Valve (Ram Truck Only)**.
Clean EGR Cooler (Ram Truck Only)**.

It also states that emissions warranty coverage may be denied if this maintenance is not performed.

Brooksdaddy, your signature doesn't say where you live, but if you live out away from tucson or Phoenix, and it doesn't have to be too far, you may not have to emission the truck, or even a car. We live close enough to Tucson that we can see it (25 miles), and do not have to emmision. Call the DMV and give them your exact address, and they can tell you if you have to emission. They will not voluntarily put that on your registration, you have to call and ask. Then you go to the DMV office, and make out a short form, forgot the form number, and the vehicle will always be exempt from emission as long as you own it and live in the same location. try it, and it may help you.

I have never heard of this on a 6. 7. I also have never heard of a pulley being worn smooth or a belt being worn smooth on a 5. 9 or a 6. 7 and I would want to see the old parts on this... . The water pump, tensioner, and fan drive pulleys are smooth and should be. All other pullies are ribbed and should be.

I live in rural Texas so deletes are possible for me. I would be looking to do the deletes as soon as the warranty was up. Also, it seems like that some of the deletes can be done without removing all the parts, but just pluging some of the connections so as to make it a little easier for yearly emission testing.

Good luck and keep us posted. :)

The service is prescribed in my ordinary glove box owner's manual,

Thanks for looking, I sold the truck and put down a deposit on an 06 Dodge drw 3500 CC 4x4. Just waiting for the seller. Will keep you guys posted. My 07 was paid for and couldn't justify spending anymore time/$$$ trying to track down the ("high pitched squeal all summer) and having sit in yard. So I sold it!!! Spent 1/2 $$ on the 06 with 5. 9L I have been wanting anyway.

Thanks,

Brooks
