Finally in February of 2003 I became the proud owner of the truck that I have ached to own for years. A 2500 4x4 H. O. CTD. I got the quad cab slt with the 6 speed and 3. 73 gears. My last two trucks were both Dodge's but gas burners. Both of them had the 360 c. i. motor with automatics. Having had no problems with my other Dodges I knew that the cummins was the only way to go. Currently have 7800 miles on her and I could not be happier! She pulls like a tractor and gets very good fuel mileage. Took a trip two weeks ago to Texarkana from southwest Louisiana unloaded and got 21. 4 mpg. Mileage was figured by tanking up not by computor. I stumbled on this site and just recently became a member. I have already got lots of good advise so thanks to all you guy's for the info. Looking at upgrading the tires since the stock tires do nothing in this south Louisiana mud. I take it from some of the post that most people are running 315's which I believe are 34" tall. I was wondering if anyone has noticed a decline in power going to taller tires with stock gearing. With the torque of this baby I would think it would be o. k. I'm used to 4x4's but having to lower my ring and pinion gears on the gas burners was a must when lifting and going to larger tires. I wont be lifting this truck but was just wondering how it has affected your trucks. Looking foreward to chatting with all of you and learning more about the CTD. Thanks!
