really basic question....

Hi everyone!

I recently bought a 2001 Ram 2500 with the 24V Cummins. Now since i've never owned a diesel before, I would like to know what advice all of you would have for anewbie like me. I am currently researching/planning on installing some gauges for EGT, Fuel Pressure, and Turbo Boost. Does this sound right? I would like to get a Turbo Cooldown timer and a remote start for warmup in the winter time here. Any recommendations there would help. As well as regular maintenence (oil, fuel, air, etc). I have been reading a lot of the discussions here for about 2 months now trying to learn as much a possible and must say this is a great site. Thanks

Welcome to the TDR Forum. .

I would suggest that you go to the "User Control Panel" tab in the top menus, and edit/add your user profile. This will let us know what version CTD you have and where your located, along with other info that you can put in.

The gauges are a great start to any BOMBing you might do. They aren't too expensive, and they will give you a wealth of knowledge after you start your modifications.

Don't be afraid to ask if you have any specific questions. This forum has an almost unlimited supply of experts in all areas concerning your CTD. Have fun... :)

Well I know its a 5. 9L Inline 6 24V Diesel, not the HO version. I also have a auto transmission. I looked over the rear end and found a tag that said 3. 54 although I not sure this is the gear ratio. Does that sound normal? It doesn't look like the previous owner did any mods to the truck so I'm thinking that it's still all stock.
