Where Is everything? Easy Diagram Inside.

Hi all. Just bought my new Dodge this last September, and just joined TDR. Man, I hate asking a question that sounds so remedial, however, I noticed that the crankcase oil gets black very quick after the oil change. I assume this is because of the soot issue related to diesels? I am sure one of you fine folks will educate me here. Not used to seeing the engine oil turn black so quick (like in a week) with the previous gas engines. Thanks all.

I think that if your oil doesn't get black in a diesel, that the oil isn't doing its job properly. I've been around diesel's since the 50's, farm equipt. and trucks, and never have seen one that didn't turn the oil black eventually. The oil is supposed to keep the soot and other particles in suspension, so it can be filtered out, at least most of it. I know the oil in our cummins in our trucks will stay clear longer if the eng. is stock, but with mods it will turn black sooner. Am I wrong? BTW, I've got over 200K on mine now, and its running better all the time. Got the BD DL on with the Juice now, and its working great so far, haven't towed with it yet, but will be this next week.
