Does anyone have a new Dakota with the 4. 7. We just bought one, and I'm hoping we made the right choice. Dont get me wrong though, the diesel's staying.
My wife has 2001 Dakota Quad cab with the 4. 7l. It has 1 quart more oil cap and a bigger cooling cap. thatn the 5. 9l. I'm not sure but the valve covers look alot like a mercedes v8s.
The only parts that worried me were the small distance between the top of the piston and the top of the first compression ring. Thanks EPA! And the connecting rod material. Read away! This is a tight tolerance engine, stay with 5W-30 oil IMO.
I undid the deal with the Dakota. John Elway Dodge has a 3 day money back guarantee. Plus I really liked that intense blue 5spd CTD they had sitting by the Vipers. I will miss my '99 auto
