New Dealer..... still NORMAL...Rear diff

Well, I had my truck to the dealer today for the pinion seal replacement ( first dealer said it was not leaking... it gave way over the weekend... ) Went to a 2nd dealer, they have a great service dept. I had them ck the rear diff noise between 68-70... They said it is normal, and they have actually seen some that were FAR WORSE than mine... . they said to rebuild would possibly make it WORSE, and D/C will not authorize A complete axle assembly replacement for some "Noise"... . it's really not that bad I guess, I hope that over the miles I tune it out... .



How much value do you actually lose if you trade in a brand new truck for another brand new truck????

Alot!!! Its not worth it unless its 1) Something you really feel you need to do or 2) You don't care about a significant loss of $$. JMO of course.

Do you think Dodge fixed the problem for "05? They probably don't want to exchange bad for worse, so they may be stalling until a better fix comes out.



This might show up as a class action lawsuit. Manufacture unwilling to provide warranty service on their troubled vehicles.

Well, I had the pinion seal replaced today... ... and gosh darn it, I think the rear end whine is better... . not completely gone, but I am guessing about 75-80% reduced in noise... I'm tickled. I hope it stays this way. . wonder what they touched or adjusted by accident to fix it. . ????

Now that the engines are quiet, we are hearing other noises that may have always existed.



Maybe DC is waiting until it can find a cure before spending so much money trying to bandage the rear ends.



Glad to see them working to improve your situation. I am partially deaf, so I wouldn't hear it unless it was thumping me on the bottom of the seat.

I also think my little noise might be from the exaust! Who knows... We'll see!

They have to take the rear yoke off to replace the seal, your pinion bearing pre-load is most likely a little different now. For the better it sounds.
