Hey everybody!

I am new to diesel and would like some suggestions. I am looking into getting a Dodge 2500 4x4 this coming year and wanted to know what packages I should consider, what additions I should add from dealer, and what modifications I should make to it once I get the truck.

I am getting the truck to use to tow some smaller things and to take camping with my atvs, possibly a 5th wheel or something, and of course hunting. I want to do a lot of traveling and don't want to be confined to hotels all the time. I will be doing some offroading, but will hopefully get a jeep in order to do most of that with the jeep. Once I get a jeep, I will want to start pulling that behind to go to the mountains. Anyways, I want to know if I should get anything done so that I can do those things. I am kinda thinking that I want a lift and some larger tires with different gears, but I'm not sure if that is necessary. Is the clearance enough to go on dirt roads with large pot holes in mountains (keep in mind the longer wheel base due to the long bed).

The biggest package that I'm getting that I am really excited for is the Black Appearance Group. I am thinking, if this doesn't come with smoked headlights/break lights, I will want to smoke those and make anything else black that is not black. I am so excited to get my first Cummins Diesel! I am not new to the Dodge world as I have a 1998 Dodge Dakota R/T 5.9L V8 and am currently getting aftermarket exhaust, headers, etc..

Any help with this would greatly be appreciated! Even if it's not help and just want to talk, it is encouraged as I love talking about cars/trucks!

Thanks!

David

David here is a repeat of a list I made the other day on things I like about our new Laramie. SNOKING

Things we are loving about the new truck!

1. Keyless entry' n Go! I made a belt pouch to carry the fob.
2. Refinement over the 93 and 2001.5.
3. Customisable EVIC screen
4. Seats - Comfort 10 Way Driver/6 Way Passenger, plus high drive position and command of the road ahead.
5. Fold flat rear seat storage
6. Full center console.
7. Color(s)
8. Alpine Sound System
9. U-Connect to cell phones
10. Long legs on the freeway (AKA 3.42 gears, 33+" tires, and .63 od)
11. Steering wheel audio controllers.
12. Cruise control display and operation (1 MPH up or down)
13. Park View (learning to really trust it)
14. Nav that I did not think I wanted.

The list goes on and on!
