Driving back from CA, stopped at the Bonneville Salt Flats Raceway on Thursday. Saw some signs that said "Dodge" with an arrow (guess them hollywood types can't follow regular signs). Drove out and saw a small town set up. (Neat thing about the flats, can't see too far due to the mirage effect. )
They had 3 new "Crewcab(?)", 4x4, black,1500, SLT Laramie trucks. They also had the Aerosmith semi truck. They were working on a shot of the new truck passing the semi viewed from the front at speed. Lots of wiping and cleaning between shots.
They had a couple signs sticking out of the salt. One said "Truckville", I didn't see the other.
There was also some kind of stage looking thing set up. I don't know if there is a plan to use the band or one of their songs in the new ad campaign or maybe they just needed a black semi truck.
The trucks look nice in person. BIG tires! (275 x 75 x 20!) But the rear door do look a tad short. I did walk up to one without getting yelled at but I didn't press my luck by trying to climb in it.
There was a large tow truck and a water truck and 2 semis used to transport the Dodges parked at the end of the paved road and visible from I-80. (The shooting was taking place in the speed run area) Over the next 2 days, we saw 3 more transporters headed west. Anybody live out that way? Think you might be able to catch the new HD?
I did snap a few pictures. If anybody is interested, I could try to post them when I get them developed...
