New Dodge Sprinter .....

Interesting van ... using a Mercedes 2. 8L diesel.



Could have a market. Would like to see that engine in a car or compact truck though.



What do you guys think?

Just today I went and looked at those at the local freightliner dealer. Looking for some new delivery vans at work. They have been in europe since 95 with great results. Fedex has 4000 of them and averages 22mpg. Service interval for oil is 10k severe duty, coolant 15 years, general maintenance 20k, transmission service 70k. The cargo versions I was looking at are pretty utilitarian but just what I am looking for. They also come with high roof option 6'1" inside height and the 3500 series is a dually. Wheelbase choices of 118",140" and 158". From my research they are going to be at select dodge dealers later this year for the 2004 model year. Currently only at freightliner dealers. At dodge they are going to eliminate the current van this year. Anyone have any firsthand experience with these things? If so what are your thoughts?

Do a search on sprinter vans - I bought one 2 weeks ago, I am getting nearly 30 mpgs with mine. - I love it!!!!

also - insurance is cheap

Liberty Mutual is charging $399 per YEAR for the sprinter van.



To me this is cheap!!!! thats 100/300 coverage

IF the engine is the same as used here in Europe, it's a very good design. That engine is rather "new". I think the first Mercedes cars equipped with that engine came out a couple of years ago. Over the time there have been nothing than GOOD coments about this engine. No major problems known. A few blown turbos...



Hp can be tuned up simply via the ECM to arround 210Hp gaining some Mpg.



I've chip tuned a MB car with that engine for a buddy. Now I can't beat him with my truck... .
