I am a Ford guy, and have had Ford diesel pu's for years... . But I was unwilling to be a test rabbit for the new 6. 0L Power Stroke... I looked for some time for an 03 dually crew with the 7. 3, but came up empty...

I ended up with my 03 dually quad cab... I must say that I have had only one problem (whistle in the drivers door) that was quickly repaired by my dealer. Other than that it has been great, no problems what so ever... I few things I like about the Ram vs the Ford CC dually:

1. Turning radius is smaller

2. Truck reacts much quicker to the streering wheel

3. Truck steps out quicker, with way less throttle applied

4. Superior interior, storage, looks, function

5. Way better brakes

6. Cummins reliability

7. Like the heated tow mirrors better

8. Quieter interior

9. Stiffer box style frame

10. Easier to work under the hood

11. Old school 4x4 system

Some bad points:

1. Thin paint, scratches easy (especially Patriot Blue)

2. Tire size... On the dually, replacement tires are not available

3. Back seat could use a little more leg room

4. Headlights: not very good.....

5. Dually fenders tend to shrink in hot weather on dark colored rigs

6. Wicked A pillar blind spot. . Takes gettin use to...

Actually this was to a response to the following thread:

" it's been a year and this FORD has to go "

I am not sure how it got in as a new post ???

Oh what the hell !

I also think you've got a pretty fair list of likes/dislikes. I previously had an F250 7. 3PSD. I agree with your bad points, the lights and the A-pillar in particular. I think I have the light issue solved (PIAA driving lights), but I'll just have to get used to the A-pillar.

I'm hoping the tire size thing is a non-issue by the time my SRA's are worn out. Wish they would have gone to 19. 5"!

What happens when the dually fenders shrink?

Dave

ps LOVE this truck

Thanks, damn glad to be here...

DPelletier: The A pillar thing gets worse when you add window visors... On the dark colored duallys, when the truck sits in the sun on hot days, a gap forms between the bed and the fender... When it cools off, the fender returns to normal... I have not noticed the problem on my truck, I will just have to wait until this summer... There are a few posts on this... When it is time to change tires, I will probably go to a 19. 5 rim, unless the selection and availability of the 17" tires gets bertter... I have the GS-A's on my truck... Some SR-A's have had seperation problems, keep an eye out for that...
